The Old Ways

Cristina Lopez, a journalist of Mexican heritage, returns to her family's home territory in Veracruz to report on local practices of witchcraft and folk healing. Instead of gathering her story, she is taken captive by a group of villagers who are convinced that a demon has taken hold of her and that only a ritual can drive it out. Held against her will and subjected to their attempts at exorcism, Cristina struggles to escape, while the ordeal gradually makes her question whether her captors might be telling the truth.

The film is a horror fantasy directed by Christopher Alender from a screenplay by Marcos Gabriel, produced by T. Justin Ross, Christa Boarini and David Grove Churchill Viste through Soapbox Films. Brigitte Kali Canales leads as Cristina, with Andrea Cortés, Julian Lerma, Sal Lopez, Julia Vera and AJ Bowen in supporting roles.
