Short description

In Italy, a woman becomes involved in a series of unauthorized exorcisms during her mission to discover what happened to her mother, who allegedly murdered three people during her own exorcism.

Matthew Peterman and William Brent Bell initially wrote a script for a typical thriller, but a lack of interest from major film studios prompted them to revise the script and make a pseudo-documentary film in the "found footage" genre (a genre in which the entire film or a significant part of it is presented to the viewer as material from found recordings on film or video cameras, often left behind by missing or deceased characters).
The shots of Maria's trial are actually shots of the trial of serial killer Aileen Carol Wuornos (1956-2002).
