Turbo

Turbo is a garden snail who does not share the pace of the world around him. While the other snails in his colony are content to move slowly and keep to the tomato plants, he is fascinated by speed and by the racing driver Guy Gagné, and he dreams of competing in the Indianapolis 500. His brother Chet finds the ambition embarrassing, and the rest of the colony sees it as pointless. Then an accident leaves Turbo with extraordinary speed, which puts his dream within reach but also introduces him to a group of streetwise snails who race for money and who have their own ideas about what he should do with his new ability.

The 2013 animated family film was directed by David Soren, who wrote the screenplay with Robert D. Siegel and Darren Lemke, with Lisa Stewart producing for DreamWorks Animation. It followed Soren's television special Merry Madagascar and came before his later features, including Madly Madagascar, Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie and Under the Boardwalk. Ryan Reynolds voices Turbo, Paul Giamatti voices Chet, Michael Peña plays the taco vendor Tito, Samuel L. Jackson is Whiplash and Bill Hader is Guy Gagné, among a credited cast of 41.

Made for 135 million dollars, Turbo took about 283 million dollars worldwide. On IMDb it holds 6.4 out of 10 from roughly 124,000 votes, and on TMDB 6.3 from about 3,790. A critics' rating of 6.1 from 111 reviews places it close to those audience scores.
