Short description

Mathayus, once the powerful Scorpion King, has lost his kingdom and his queen. Living as a hired killer, he takes on a mission that could restore his former standing: protecting a kingdom from a cruel tyrant and that ruler's army of ghost warriors. The task draws him into a struggle over the princess Silda and a magic medallion, with rival claims and betrayal at play.

The film is the third entry in the Scorpion King series, following the 2002 original that starred Dwayne Johnson. Victor Webster plays Mathayus, with Temuera Morrison as Ramusan, Krystal Vee as Silda, Ron Perlman as Horus and Bostin Christopher as Olaf among a credited cast of twenty. Roel Reiné directed from a screenplay by Brendan Cowles and Shane Kuhn; it is the seventh of the twenty-one films he has directed in chronological order, between Wolf Town and Death Race: Inferno. Shot for a budget of five million dollars, it runs 106 minutes and mixes action, adventure, drama and fantasy.

Reaction has been weak. On IMDb it holds a rating of 3.7 from around 9,600 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 4.5 from 389 votes. Both figures point to a broadly unpopular reception among viewers.
