Kristin is an American suburban mother whose life is coming apart: her only son is leaving for college, her marriage is strained by her husband's infidelity, and her career has stalled. An unexpected call from Italy brings news that her grandfather has died, so she travels to Rome, where she learns he led a mafia clan and that she is expected to take over the family business. Resisting at first but left with little choice, she relies on Bianca, the organization's trusted consigliere, to navigate her new role and prove herself as its head.
Catherine Hardwicke directed the film, the ninth of the eleven features listed for her, arriving between Miss Bala and Prisoner's Daughter. Debbie Jhoon and J. Michael Feldman wrote the screenplay, and Toni Collette, who stars as Kristin, produced alongside Amanda Sthers. Monica Bellucci plays Bianca, with Sophia Nomvete, Alessandro Bressanello, Eduardo Scarpetta and Tommy Rodger among a credited cast of twenty-six. The film was made for about 41 million USD and returned roughly 4 million USD worldwide.
On TMDB it holds a rating of 6.1 out of 10 from 331 votes, indicating a modest audience response.
