Travis Block is a government operative who works in the shadows, pulling agents out of situations where their covers have been blown. He has spent years doing jobs without asking questions, but he wants out. When an agent he knows is killed after infiltrating a group that advocates violent social upheaval, Block begins to see that the danger comes from inside the agency he serves. A covert program is targeting ordinary citizens, and the trail leads to FBI director Gabriel Robinson, the man Block has long answered to. Block turns to journalist Mira Jones for help exposing what is happening, even as his daughter and granddaughter are threatened.
Blacklight is an action thriller directed by Mark Williams, who wrote the screenplay with Nick May and also produced. It is Williams's third feature as director, following A Family Man and Honest Thief. Liam Neeson stars as Travis Block, with Emmy Raver-Lampman as Mira Jones, Taylor John Smith as Dusty Crane, Aidan Quinn as Gabriel Robinson, Tim Draxl as Drew Hawthorne and Claire van der Boom as Amanda Block.
The film was released in February 2022. Made for a budget of 43 million US dollars, it grossed about 16 million worldwide. Audiences are divided: it holds a 4.8 rating on IMDb from more than 23,000 votes and a 6.1 on TMDB from roughly 1,300 votes, while the critics' rating stands at 3.9 from 105 reviews, lower than either audience score.
