House at the End of the Street

Elissa and her mother Sarah move to a small, secluded town and find a house that suits them well. What they do not know at first is that their new neighbour, a young man named Ryan, is the only member of his family still living after a killing in the house next door: his sister murdered their parents and was never found. Elissa befriends Ryan and the two grow close, against Sarah's wishes, and the events surrounding the family pull them into a situation that becomes increasingly dangerous.

The film is directed by Mark Tonderai, from a screenplay by David Loucka. It is the first of Tonderai's two directing credits, followed years later by Spell. Jennifer Lawrence plays Elissa, with Max Thieriot as Ryan, Elisabeth Shue as Sarah, Gil Bellows as Weaver and Eva Link as Carrie Anne, among a credited cast of twenty-four and a credited crew of fifty-six.

Produced by Relativity Media, A Bigger Boat and FilmNation Entertainment, the film cost around 7 million dollars and took roughly 44 million dollars worldwide, a strong return on its budget. On IMDb it holds a critics' rating of 3.8 out of 10 from 69 reviews, while on TMDB it has 5.8 out of 10 from 1,943 votes, a gap that suggests general audiences responded more favourably than reviewers did.
