The Three Musketeers: Milady

The Three Musketeers: Milady continues the story of D'Artagnan, a young swordsman who sees his beloved Constance Bonacieux abducted. While his comrades Athos, Aramis and Porthos are drawn to the front lines, D'Artagnan is forced into an uneasy alliance with the mysterious Milady de Winter, an agent whose loyalties remain unclear. France stands divided between Catholic royalists and Protestant factions, and Cardinal Richelieu schemes toward war with England, placing King Louis XIII under growing pressure. Long-buried secrets from the past threaten both the new partnership and the friendship among the musketeers. The film is an adaptation of Alexandre Dumas's novel, set in seventeenth-century France and ranging from Paris to the siege of La Rochelle.

Martin Bourboulon directed, working from a screenplay by Matthieu Delaporte and Alexandre de La Patellière. It is the fourth feature he directed, arriving after Daddy or Mommy and Eiffel. François Civil plays D'Artagnan, with Vincent Cassel, Romain Duris and Pio Marmaï as the three musketeers, Eva Green as Milady, and Lyna Khoudri as Constance. The production, mounted across Germany, Belgium, Spain and France, carried a budget of about 39 million USD and returned roughly 22 million USD worldwide.
