Wild Guitar is a 1962 American music drama about Bud Eagle, a young man who arrives in Hollywood hoping to make it as a rock and roll performer. He is offered a break by Mike McCauley, the owner of a small record label whose interest in Bud's talent is matched by his willingness to exploit him. The film follows Bud as he tries to build a career while dealing with the pressures of an industry he does not fully understand.
The film was directed by Ray Dennis Steckler, working from a screenplay by Arch Hall Sr. and Bob Wehling, with Hall Sr. also producing. Arch Hall Jr. plays Bud Eagle, Nancy Czar appears as Vickie Wills, and Hall Sr. plays McCauley under the name William Watters. Steckler also acts in the film as Steak, credited as Cash Flagg, and the cast includes Marie Denn and Robert Crumb. It runs 92 minutes and was produced by Fairway International Pictures.
Audience response has been modest. On IMDb it holds a rating of 4.6 out of 10 from around 1,200 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 4.7 out of 10 from a much smaller group of 29 votes. The two scores are close, indicating a similar level of reception from viewers on both platforms for this low-budget music industry story.
