The Light at the Edge of the World

Set in 1865 at Cape Horn, this adventure drama follows a group of pirates who seize a lighthouse on a rocky island. After killing most of the crew, the pirates use the lighthouse to deceive passing ships, leading them to crash into the reefs so the crew can loot the wrecks. One surviving lighthouse keeper hides among the rocks and wages a private war against the invaders to stop their plot. He is eventually joined by a woman who survived one of the shipwrecks.

The film was directed by Kevin Billington, marking the first of two feature films he directed, followed by Heartland in 1989. Produced by Kirk Douglas, the movie features Douglas in the lead role as Will Denton, alongside Yul Brynner as the pirate leader Jonathan Kongre and Samantha Eggar as Arabella. The cast also includes Jean-Claude Drouot, Fernando Rey, and Renato Salvatori.

A co-production between Spain, Liechtenstein, the United States, and Switzerland, the film has a runtime of 128 minutes. It received a moderate reception from audiences, holding a rating of 6/10 on IMDb based on 2,100 votes and a matching 6/10 on TMDB from 58 votes.
