White Dog

Set in the United States following the assassination of Martin Luther King, this drama explores racial conflict through the lens of a domestic struggle. Writer Romain Gary and his wife, actress and civil rights activist Jean Seberg, take in a stray dog. The animal has been trained to attack Black people, creating a central conflict between Romain's desire to save the creature and Jean's commitment to social justice and the Black Panthers.

The film was directed by Anaïs Barbeau-Lavalette, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Valérie Beaugrand-Champagne. This was the first of two films directed by Barbeau-Lavalette listed in the records, preceding Pauline Julien: Woman of the Country. The production was handled by GO Films in Canada.
