Short description

Yen Town Space in Inujima is a music documentary that records a concert celebrating the twentieth anniversary of Swallowtail Butterfly. Held at the Inujima Seirensho Museum as part of the Setouchi Triennale 2016, the event recreated the fictional city of Yen Town within a former power plant. The performance featured a variety of musicians, including Salyu and Chara of the Yen Town Band. Through a two-hour suite, the work explores themes connecting the film Swallowtail and the project All About Lily Chou-Chou with real-world events, specifically the Great East Japan Earthquake and the September 11 terrorist attacks.

The film was directed by Shunji Iwai and produced by Takeshi Kobayashi. In the chronological order of Iwai's work, this is the thirteenth of sixteen films he directed, following A Bride for Rip Van Winkle and preceding Miracle, both released in 2016. This Japanese production has a runtime of 125 minutes.
