Asterix in Britain

Julius Caesar has conquered most of Britain, but a single village keeps resisting the Roman legions. One of its inhabitants, Teefax, a cousin of Asterix, travels across the Channel to Gaul to ask for help. Asterix and Obelix agree to carry a barrel of their magic potion back to Britain, where the Romans, under Governor Encyclopaedius, are doing everything they can to seize it. The mission takes the Gauls through unfamiliar customs, including fog, rain and warm beer, while the hunt for the potion repeatedly slips out of Roman hands.

The film is an animated adaptation of the Asterix comic by René Goscinny and Albert Uderzo, set in the same world as the earlier Gaulish adventures. It was directed by Pino Van Lamsweerde, following his work on Heavy Metal in 1981. Roger Carel voices Asterix and Pierre Tornade voices Obelix, with Graham Bushnell as Teefax, Pierre Mondy as Cétinlapsus, Maurice Risch as Chateaupetrus and Roger Lumont as Stratocumulus among a credited cast of forty-three. The production was a Danish-French co-production.

On IMDb the film holds a rating of 7.1 from around 13,000 votes, while on TMDB it stands at 6.8 from roughly 750 votes. These figures point to a widely seen film with a generally favourable response and a smaller, somewhat more mixed international audience. At seventy-nine minutes, it is a compact adventure comedy aimed at family viewers.
