Twins
Short description
Twins is a 1988 American comedy about two men who discover they are brothers. A secret genetic experiment was meant to produce a single exceptional child, but it yielded two very different boys. One grew up athletic and highly educated, raised far from ordinary life; the other was raised in an orphanage and became a small-time hustler. When the first learns he has a twin, he sets out to find him, bringing the two together after years apart. The brothers then go looking for their mother, a journey complicated by a valuable delivery one of them has agreed to make and by people pursuing them.
The film was directed by Ivan Reitman, who also produced it, from a screenplay by Herschel Weingrod, Timothy Harris and William Davies. It is the fifth of the fifteen films he directed, coming between Legal Eagles and Ghostbusters II. Arnold Schwarzenegger plays Julius and Danny DeVito plays Vincent, with Kelly Preston, Chloe Webb, Bonnie Bartlett and Marshall Bell in supporting roles.
Made for about 15 million dollars, the film took roughly 217 million dollars worldwide, a return that reflects its broad commercial appeal. On IMDb it holds 6.2 from around 148,000 votes, and on TMDB 6.1 from over 2,600 votes, while the critics' rating stands at 4.9 from 44 reviews, noticeably below the audience scores.

- Universal Studios needed to know for sure that Arnold Schwarzenegger, Danny DeVito, and director Ivan Reitman would participate in the project because they were very pressed for time. The deal with the agents was concluded over lunch and written (and signed) on a napkin, after which DeVito framed it.
- Arnold Schwarzenegger always wanted to film a sequel to the movie "Triplets" (the title of this film, "Twins," can be literally translated as "Doublets") with Danny DeVito and adding Eddie Murphy to the cast. In 2003, DeVito contacted him, offering various plot ideas, but Schwarzenegger was busy with the California gubernatorial election. DeVito doubted Schwarzenegger would be elected. In 2012, at the end of Schwarzenegger's second term as governor, work on "Triplets" had not yet begun, and in 2019, DeVito announced that even the script was not fully ready.
- There was no money for the fees of the two main actors and the director, so they decided to share a percentage of the revenue among themselves, and earned even more than their stipulated fees because the film was a box office success.
