Beverly Hills Cop II

Beverly Hills Cop II follows Detroit detective Axel Foley as he returns to California after learning that his friend Andrew Bogomil, a Beverly Hills police captain, has been shot and left seriously wounded. Reuniting with Sergeant John Taggart and Detective Billy Rosewood, Axel helps track down whoever was behind the attack. The investigation connects the shooting to a string of robberies carried out around the area, and the trail eventually leads to arms dealer Maxwell Dent and his associate Karla Fry, who set a killer on Axel's tail once they realize he is a police officer. The film is a sequel to Beverly Hills Cop and continues the story of its central character.

Tony Scott directed the film, the third of the sixteen features he made in chronological order, arriving between Top Gun and Revenge. Eddie Murphy again stars as Axel Foley, with Judge Reinhold, John Ashton, Ronny Cox and Brigitte Nielsen among the cast, and Jerry Bruckheimer and Don Simpson producing. Made for a budget of 28 million dollars, it took about 300 million dollars worldwide, a strong commercial result for an action comedy of its period. On IMDb it holds 6.6 out of 10 from 148,000 votes, while on TMDB it has 6.5 out of 10 from 2,915 votes. Its critics' rating of 5.1 out of 10 from 40 reviews sits below the audience scores.
