The Glimmer Man

Jack Cole, once a covert government operative, has left that life behind to work as a Los Angeles police detective. When a serial killer begins leaving a trail of bodies across the city, Cole is paired with Jim Campbell, a local homicide investigator with a very different temperament and approach. The two clash repeatedly as they work the case, yet they gradually find a way to function as partners while uncovering a wider conspiracy behind the murders.

The film is directed by John Gray, whose only earlier feature was When He's Not a Stranger, and was written by Kevin Brodbin. Steven Seagal, who also produced alongside Julius R. Nasso, stars as Cole, with Keenen Ivory Wayans as Campbell. Bob Gunton, Brian Cox, John M. Jackson and Michelle Johnson appear in supporting roles, among a credited cast of 44 and crew of 52.

Released in October 1996, the film runs 92 minutes and blends action with comedy and crime. Made for about 45 million dollars, it returned roughly 20 million worldwide. On IMDb it holds 5.4 out of 10 from around 22,000 votes, and on TMDB the same 5.4 from far fewer votes. A critics' rating of 3.7 out of 10 from 28 reviews places it below even those modest audience scores.
