La Cocina

La Cocina is a comedy-drama set in a busy Manhattan restaurant called The Grill. The story focuses on Pedro, an undocumented cook who struggles with his position in the kitchen and his complicated feelings for Julia, a waitress. Tensions rise among the immigrant staff when money goes missing from the cash register, leading to suspicions and accusations. While the owner, Rashid, has offered to help Pedro obtain legal papers, a revelation from Julia and the pressure of the workplace push Pedro toward an action that disrupts the restaurant's operations.

Written and directed by Alonso Ruizpalacios, this film follows his previous works Café Paraíso, Museo, and Andor. The movie features Raúl Briones in the lead role as Pedro, alongside Rooney Mara as Julia and Oded Fehr as Rashid. Other cast members include Anna Díaz, Motell Gyn Foster, and Laura Gómez. Produced by Filmadora, HanWay Films, Fifth Season, and Astrakan Films AB, the project was a collaboration between Argentina, the United Kingdom, Mexico, the United States, and Sweden.
