Out of My Mind

Melody Brooks is an intelligent sixth grader with cerebral palsy who uses a wheelchair and is non-verbal. Because of her condition, she lacks the same educational opportunities as her peers. With the support of a young educator who recognizes her capabilities, Melody enters a mainstream classroom. Through this experience and the use of assistive tools, she demonstrates that the content of her thoughts is more valuable than the method she uses to communicate them.

This drama was directed by Amber Sealey, who previously directed No Man of God in 2021. The screenplay was written by Daniel Stiepleman. The film stars Phoebe-Rae Taylor in the lead role, alongside Rosemarie DeWitt, Luke Kirby, Michael Chernus, Courtney Taylor, and Judith Light.
