Extracted is a 2012 American science fiction thriller written and directed by Nir Paniry. Thomas Jacobs is a scientist who has built a device that lets a person enter another's mind and watch their memories from inside. Needing money to finish his work, he reluctantly agrees to let the justice system use the machine on a prisoner accused of murder, a heroin addict, so that the crime can be examined directly. During the procedure the link fails and Tom's mind becomes trapped inside the man's head, leaving his body behind. He spends years as a prisoner of those memories before finding a possible way out.
Sasha Roiz plays Tom, with Jenny Mollen, Dominic Bogart, Richard Riehle, Ty Simpkins and Frank Ashmore in supporting roles. John Suits and Gabriel Cowan produced for New Artists Alliance. The film runs 85 minutes and was released in March 2012.
Audience reactions are moderate: on IMDb it holds 6.4 out of 10 from around 13,000 votes, and on TMDB 6.2 out of 10 from a much smaller number of votes. Extracted is Paniry's first feature as director and writer, and the only title of his listed here.
