Barnyard

Barnyard is set on a farm where the animals lead a secret double life. As soon as the farmer is away, they walk on two legs, talk like people and throw parties. At the centre of it all is Otis, a carefree young cow who would rather sing and joke around with his friends, a mouse, a ferret, a rooster and a pig, than take on any responsibility. His adoptive father Ben, the respected leader who organises the animals and keeps them safe from the coyotes in the surrounding wilderness, wants him to grow up.

When Ben is killed in a coyote attack, Otis is forced to take his place and learn to look after the community around him. The farm's easy routine is threatened not only by the coyotes but also by the growing suspicion of the farmer himself.

The film is a computer-animated comedy directed and written by Steve Oedekerk, his fourth feature as director following Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls, Nothing to Lose and Kung Pow: Enter the Fist. Kevin James voices Otis, with Sam Elliott as Ben, Courteney Cox as Daisy, Danny Glover as Miles, Wanda Sykes as Bessy and Andie MacDowell as Etta among a credited cast of 55. Produced by Paramount, Nickelodeon Movies and O Entertainment, it cost about 51 million dollars and took roughly 117 million worldwide. On IMDb it holds 5.6/10 from 38,000 votes, on TMDB 6/10 from 1,230, while critics rated it 4.5/10 across 93 reviews, lower than audiences did.
