End of Days

End of Days is a supernatural action film set in New York in the days leading up to the new millennium. Jericho Cane, a former police officer turned bodyguard, is hired to protect a Wall Street banker. He soon discovers that his client is not what he appears to be. A priest has already tried to kill the man, and Jericho gradually realises that he is dealing with Satan himself, who has taken human form and is searching for a woman named Christine York. Born in 1979 and marked since birth, Christine is destined to bear the Antichrist, and she is pursued both by demonic forces and by a militant faction from the Vatican. Jericho, an embittered man going through the motions of his job, ends up protecting her and trying to stop the prophesied union before the millennium turns.

Peter Hyams directed the film, the thirteenth of seventeen features he made, following The Relic and preceding The Musketeer. Andrew W. Marlowe wrote the screenplay, and Armyan Bernstein and Bill Borden produced it for Beacon Communications. Arnold Schwarzenegger plays Jericho, with Gabriel Byrne as the man he is hired to guard, Robin Tunney as Christine, Kevin Pollak as Jericho's colleague Bobby Chicago, CCH Pounder as Detective Margie Francis and Derrick O'Connor as Thomas Aquinas.

The production had a budget of 100 million US dollars and took in 212 million worldwide. On IMDb it holds a rating of 5.8 from around 122,000 votes, while on TMDB its rating stands at 6.1 from roughly 2,100 votes, both below the mixed-to-negative average of 4.5 out of 10 that critics gave it across 101 reviews.
