Close Your Eyes

Julio Arenas, a well-known Spanish actor, vanishes while shooting a film in a coastal area. No body is ever recovered, and the police conclude that he fell from a cliff. Twenty-two years later, the director of that unfinished film is invited to take part in a television programme devoted to the actor's disappearance, bringing the case back into public view. The director, Miguel Garay, is drawn back into the search for what really happened to his friend.

Víctor Erice directed and co-wrote the film with Michel Gaztambide, and produced it with Pablo E. Bossi and Cristina Zumárraga. It is his fourth feature, arriving four decades after El Sur and twelve years after 3.11 A Sense of Home Films, following his debut The Spirit of the Beehive in 1973. Manolo Solo plays Miguel Garay, with Jose Coronado as Julio Arenas, Ana Torrent as Ana Arenas, Petra Martínez, María León and Mario Pardo in supporting roles. The film is a co-production between Spain and Argentina and runs 169 minutes.
