What's left behind the scenes
- Anthony Michael Hall is the only actor to appear on screen in every single episode.
- Before filming the movie, Pyotr Stein toured a remand prison. People who had worked in the Federal Penitentiary Service for many years were brought in as consultants.
- In the third episode, when Mitya Sukhoi enters the punishment cell, Okunev is wearing glasses; then, after a cut, the glasses disappear and subsequently reappear.
