What's left behind the scenes
- According to Stephen King, Steven Spielberg asked him to write a story about the scariest haunted house so that he could make a movie. However, at the time, the writer was in a car accident that nearly cost him his life. While the writer was recovering, Spielberg moved on to another project. Consequently, King wrote the screenplay for an ABC television series.
- David Dukes died of a heart attack while playing tennis, one day before he was due to resume filming. He was replaced by the extras coordinator.
- Stephen King played a cameo role as a pizza delivery driver.
