What's left behind the scenes
- In the Season 4 episode 'Trouble with Troubles,' an advertising flyer for an establishment called Captain Trip's Cafe can be seen. 'Captain Trip' is the colloquial name for the plague that devastated the world in Stephen King's novel 'The Stand' (1978).
- Throughout almost the entire series, the flag on the right shoulder of the police uniforms is shown incorrectly. The stars should be facing forward. The only exception is a couple of officers in the episode 'Trouble with Troubles' from Season 4, whose uniform flags are shown correctly.
- In the Season 1 episode 'That Which Surfaced,' a toy car sits on one of the characters' desks. It is a model of a 1958 Plymouth Fury. The same car is featured in Stephen King's novel 'Christine' (1983).
- The series mentions the towns of Derry and Castle Rock several times. Both are fictional and have repeatedly served as the setting for Stephen King's works.
- The opening credits mention the 'Honorable Flagg.' Randall Flagg appears in several of Stephen King's works, where he invariably serves as the antagonist.
- A loose adaptation of Stephen King's novel 'The Colorado Kid' (2005), the plot of which is itself a free retelling of an unsolved murder in Australia in the late 1940s. (The body of an unknown man without identification was found on Somerton Beach.)
