What's left behind the scenes
- Madison Carabello and Miranda Carabello are actually twins (they both played Marie Dubois). The series creators had to cast both twins due to strict labor laws regulating the employment of underage actors.
- One of the producers asked the lead actress, Patricia Arquette, to lose weight. The actress flatly refused, stating that her character has three children (just as Arquette does herself) and that she feels perfectly fine exactly as she is.
- Sofya Vasilieva missed several episodes in Season 5 because she was filming Nick Cassavetes' drama 'My Sister's Keeper' (2009). She had to cut her hair for the role in Cassavetes' film. Patricia Arquette did the same as a gesture of support, which explains both actresses' short haircuts at the beginning of Season 6.
- The series is based on the life and work of the real-life medium Allison Dubois.
- Patricia Arquette agreed to play Alison Dubois, but she warned Dubois herself upon meeting that she did not intend to copy her image exactly down to the smallest detail.
