What's left behind the scenes
- The series screenwriter, Kinoko Nasu, initially intended to make Saber a man in accordance with the myths of King Arthur, but decided that a female version of the character would be more interesting.
- It was originally intended that Gilgamesh would have an "enki" (a weapon named after one of the three great gods of Sumerian-Akkadian mythology) capable of summoning the Flood of Utnapishtim (known in the Bible as the Great Flood).
- Gilgamesh's eternal boasting is a reference to the 'Epic of Gilgamesh.' This is one of the oldest surviving literary texts in the world, in which the hero is constantly praised.
- Some locations in Fuyuki City are based on real-life locations in Kobe and Fujisawa.
