What's left behind the scenes

  • Instead of naming the car brand, the characters in the series refer to the chassis number. This is typical for the Japanese automotive industry.
  • Keiichi Tsuchiya, nicknamed the 'Drift King,' served as a consultant for the series. In one of the episodes, he even provided the voice for one of Bunta's old friends.
  • Mount Akina in the series is based on Mount Haruna, located in Japan's Gunma Prefecture.
  • In the series, Kyosuke competes against rivals on Mount Myogi (Myogi-san). In reality, motorcycle races, rather than car races, are held annually on the slopes of Mount Myogi in Gunma Prefecture.
  • The creator, Shuichi Shigeno, is a passionate fan of motorsports and is famous for comics on this very subject. Transitioning to comics about car racing was not easy for him.
  • Initially, car emblems in the series were either completely absent or altered because the creators did not have the necessary permissions to use them. This oversight was later corrected, and the familiar manufacturer logos appeared on the vehicles.
