Short description
Bizarre things start happening in the little New Mexico town where UFOs were spotted in 1947. Cut to 1999, when a cute high-school student saves the life of a teenage waitress. Surrounded by cliques of clever, angst-filled classmates, the two form a bond that threatens the survival of a secret universe involving superhuman powers, a yen for hot sauce and an alien gene pool.

What's left behind the scenes
- Catherine Heigl and Colin Hanks were born on the same day, November 24, though Colin is one year older than Katie.
- Before landing the role of Isabelle Evans, Catherine Heigl auditioned for all three female roles, as did Shiri Appleton.
- Roswell is a real city in the USA where, according to some reports, a collision between a plane and a UFO occurred in 1947. This incident serves as the basis for the series.
- During filming, Shiri Appleton (Liz) and Jason Behr (Max) dated, just like their characters.
- Although the plot of the series takes place in New Mexico, the entire show was filmed within Los Angeles and its surroundings; the aliens' secret hideout was Vasquez Rocks Natural Area Park, located north of LA.
- Fans of the series sent bottles of Tabasco sauce to WB in an attempt to save the show from cancellation.
- Initially, the actors tried to eat dishes seasoned with Tabasco, but they couldn't handle it for long, and the sauce was replaced with ordinary tomato paste.
