What's left behind the scenes
- Megan Follows' natural hair color is light brown, but for the role of Anne, it was dyed and combined with the use of wigs.
- The film is based on the novel 'The Story of Anne Shirley' by Lucy Maud Montgomery. This author also wrote an entire series of books about Anne Shirley.
- Initially, the role of Anne was meant to be played by Shoel Grant (Diana). However, many felt that she should be portrayed by a Canadian actress, and thus Megan Follows was chosen, despite an unimpressive first audition.
- Dawn Greenhalgh, who plays Mrs. Cadbury, is the mother of actress Megan Follows.
- Shoel Grant, who had short, light-brown hair at the time, had to wear a wig to portray Diana Barry.
- Morgan Chapman (Mini May) is the niece of director Kevin Sullivan.
