Short description

Detective Raimy Sullivan is stunned when a voice suddenly crackles through her father’s old, long-broken ham radio – it’s Frank Sullivan, somehow transmitting over the airwaves and through the decades from 1996. Separated by twenty years, father and daughter have reunited on a frequency only they can hear, but can they rewrite the story of their lives without risking everyone they love?

What's left behind the scenes

Ramie Sullivan and her father Frank repeatedly hear the abbreviation 'CQ,' which means 'calling all stations.' The abbreviation originated from the French 'sécurité,' meaning 'security' or 'attention' (the letters 'CQ' pronounced in French sound like this word). In English, the pronunciation of these letters is similar to the phrase 'seek you,' and it means the same thing—'calling all stations' or 'to anyone listening.'
The first encounter across time occurs on October 21, which is a reference to the 'Back to the Future' franchise. In 'Back to the Future Part II' (Robert Zemeckis, 1989), Marty and Doc Brown travel to 2015 specifically on October 21.
Some significant differences between the series and Gregory Hoblit's film 'Frequency' (2000): Frank Sullivan is a detective (a firefighter in the film), he has a daughter (a son in the film), and he is divorced (still married in the film); in the first two cases, the causes of death are a frame-up and a car accident (whereas in the film, it is death in a warehouse fire and death from lung cancer).
