Short description
The adventures of four penguins—Skipper, Kowalski, Private, and Rico, who perform various commando-like missions to protect their home in the Central Park Zoo. The penguins often have to deal with problems caused, or made worse, by their zoo neighbors, King Julien XIII (a ring-tailed lemur), Maurice (an aye-aye), and Mort (a mouse lemur).

What's left behind the scenes
- The license plate on the penguins' car reads: 'I love Bon Jovi.' They obtained the plate in New Jersey, the home state of the band Bon Jovi.
- According to Tom McGrath (who voiced Skipper), the TV series takes place outside of the canonical reality or universe.
- With the exception of Skipper, all the penguins here are voiced by professional dubbing actors rather than DreamWorks Animation employees, as was the case in all other films and video games.
- A Fishyvision brand television is installed in the penguins' headquarters, as can be seen in several episodes.
- Alex the lion reappears in the episode 'The Return of the Revenge of Dr. Blowhole'.
