Short description
The Jacksons are your average working-class family in Gary, Indiana; but when their father Joseph discovers the kids have an extraordinary musical talent, they form a band. Winning talent show after talent show, they soon hit it big when Motown comes calling. From there, they become the now famous Jackson 5. But along the way, their success brings trouble and turmoil.

What's left behind the scenes
- During one of the performances, Jermaine Jackson's (played in the film between the ages of 13 and 17 by Jermaine Jackson II) bass guitar strap snapped, and the instrument nearly fell.
- When Michael is in the studio recording tracks for the song 'Human Nature', a caption indicates that this is taking place in 1983. In reality, this song was included in the album 'Thriller', which was released back in November 1982.
- Michael Jackson wanted a beautiful actress to play the role of his mother, Katherine Jackson. For this reason, he specifically requested Angela Bassett's participation in the film.
- In some of the songs in the film, Jason Weaver (who played Michael Jackson between the ages of 9 and 14) actually sang instead of just lip-syncing.
- Michael Jackson's hair did indeed catch fire due to electrical wiring during the filming of a Pepsi commercial, but he did not fall off a ladder. After suffering burns, he took painkillers.
- In the solo singing scene, Michael Jackson is shown with a glove on his right hand. In reality, he wore the glove on his left hand.
