Short description
Drew is an assistant director of personnel in a Cleveland department store and he has been stuck there for ten years. What's left behind the scenes
- The ending of the project's final episode is a remake of the pilot episode's ending, albeit with slight changes. In the pilot, Drew plays billiards while Kate, Oswald, and Lewis watch him from the kitchen window. In the finale, Drew is watched by Lewis, Oswald, Mr. Wick, Mimi, Kelly, and Drew Jr. In both instances, Drew, wearing a yellow raincoat, plays billiards outdoors in the rain.
- During episodes filmed "live," the actors had to perform twice: first for audiences on the East Coast of the US, and a second time for audiences on the West Coast.
- It was originally intended that Mimi Bobeck, played by Kathy Kinney, would appear on screen only occasionally and in supporting roles, but she became such a hit with the audience that she was added to the main cast.
- When the show's initial ratings became known, the studio executives gifted Drew Carey (who played himself) a Porsche 911. Carey immediately gave the sports car to a studio employee who didn't own a car at all.
