Dumb and Dumber To

Twenty years after their first misadventure, Lloyd Christmas and Harry Dunne are reunited in Dumb and Dumber To. Harry learns he fathered a child long ago, and with his health failing and a transplant needed, the two friends set off to track down the daughter he never knew, hoping she can help him. Lloyd, for his part, is soon distracted by the young woman herself. Their search takes them across the country in a series of unsuitable vehicles, with the pair causing their usual chaos along the way.

Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels return as Lloyd and Harry, joined by Laurie Holden, Rachel Melvin, Kathleen Turner and Rob Riggle. Bobby Farrelly and Peter Farrelly again direct, and wrote the screenplay with Mike Cerrone; the brothers also produced with Bradley Thomas. For Bobby Farrelly this was the eleventh of the fourteen films he has directed, arriving after The Three Stooges and before Champions. For Peter Farrelly it was the thirteenth of eighteen, following Movie 43 and preceding Green Book.

The comedy was made for about 40 million US dollars and took roughly 170 million worldwide, a return well above its cost. Audience response was modest: on IMDb it holds 5.6 out of 10 from around 153,000 votes, and on TMDB the same 5.6 from about 3,510 votes. A critics' rating of 4.6 out of 10 from 149 reviews puts professional opinion slightly below those audience scores.
