A Survivor's Tale

Set in 1542 during a French expedition to Canada, this historical drama follows Marguerite de la Rocque. After becoming pregnant by a crew member who abused her, Marguerite is left behind on a deserted island near Newfoundland. She is stranded for two years alongside the man responsible for her pregnancy and a servant, where they must endure extreme cold, hunger, and psychological distress to survive.

The film was directed by Micha Wald, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Samuel Malhoure and Agnès Caffin. The production was a joint effort between France and Belgium, handled by Stenola Productions and KG Productions. The lead role of Marguerite de la Rocque was played by Salomé Dewaels, with Louis Peres appearing as Thomas d'Artois and Candice Bouchet as Damienne Latour. The supporting cast includes Alexandra Lamy, Patrick Descamps, and Alexandre Gavras. The movie was released on March 25, 2026, with a total runtime of 102 minutes.
