Blood and Chocolate

Vivian has built a quiet life in Bucharest, working in a chocolate shop and living with her aunt Astrid, but she is hiding what she is. She comes from a line of werewolves, or loup-garous, and her family expects her to take her place alongside Gabriel, the leader of their pack. When she meets Aiden, an American writer researching a book about werewolves, the two grow close, and Vivian finds herself caught between the obligations of her secret community and her feelings for a human who knows nothing about her true nature.

Katja von Garnier directed the film, which followed her earlier features Making Up! and Iron Jawed Angels and preceded the three Windstorm films. The screenplay is by Ehren Kruger and Christopher Landon, and the cast includes Agnes Bruckner as Vivian, Hugh Dancy as Aiden, Katja Riemann as Astrid, and Olivier Martinez as Gabriel. The production was a four-country effort involving Germany, the United Kingdom, Romania and the United States.

Made for a budget of 15 million USD, the film returned about 6 million USD worldwide. On TMDB it holds a rating of 5.6 out of 10 from 344 votes, while the critics' rating stands at 3.6 out of 10 from 73 reviews, a gap that places audience response noticeably above the critical one.
