Cry_Wolf

Cry_Wolf is a horror thriller set at a private academy, where a student newly arrived after trouble at his previous school falls in with a tight-knit group of friends known for their elaborate deceptions. When a young woman is found murdered in the woods near campus, the group turns the killing into a game, spreading an online rumor about a serial killer called The Wolf who will strike again. They name the people they claim will be his next targets, drawn from those closest to them. The prank loses its shape once those announced victims begin to die, leaving the friends unable to tell where their invention ends and a real killer begins.

The film is the directorial debut of Jeff Wadlow, who wrote the screenplay with Beau Bauman. It came before Never Back Down, Kick-Ass 2 and later horror titles such as Truth or Dare and Imaginary. Julian Morris plays Owen, with Lindy Booth as Dodger and Jared Padalecki as Tom among the main cast, part of a credited ensemble of 39 performers.

Made for about 1 million dollars, Cry_Wolf returned roughly 10 million worldwide, a strong multiple on its cost. On IMDb it holds 5.8 from around 30,000 votes, and on TMDB it also sits at 5.8, from a much smaller 603 votes. A critics' rating of 4.4 from 47 reviews places it below the audience scores.
