Katy Perry: Part of Me

Katy Perry: Part of Me is a concert documentary about the pop singer Katy Perry, following her on stage and off during her California Dreams Tour. Built around performances, rehearsals and backstage material, the film traces how a girl from California who grew up singing gospel music became a global pop star, and it pairs concert footage with interviews and private moments with friends and members of her team. The through-line is her insistence on staying true to herself, which the film presents as the key to her success.

Dan Cutforth and Jane Lipsitz directed. The picture was produced by Brian Grazer, Ron Howard and Emer Patten, with Imagine Entertainment, MTV Films, Insurge Pictures and Direct Management Group behind it. Perry appears as herself, alongside Shannon Woodward, Rachael Markarian, Mia Moretti, Glen Ballard and Adam Marcello among roughly sixty credited cast members. Made for about 12 million dollars, it took in around 33 million worldwide.

Audience response has been warmer than the critical one: on IMDb it sits at 6 out of 10 from about 14,000 votes, while on TMDB it averages 7.1 from some 291 ratings, and the film critics' rating stands at 6.3 from 88 reviews. It runs 93 minutes.
