Night Accident

A woman from Magadan is robbed in a Moscow alley, claiming a taxi driver struck her with a hammer and stole a significant amount of money. An investigator identifies a driver with a prior conviction for hooliganism as the prime suspect. Although the evidence points toward the driver's guilt and the victim identifies him during a confrontation, the man refuses to confess. This leads to a conflict between the available facts and the testimonies of people who believe the suspect is incapable of such a crime.

The mystery film was produced in the Soviet Union by Gorky Film Studios and released in 1980. It was directed by Venyamin Dorman, following his 1977 work Golden River. The screenplay was written by Vladlen Bakhnov. The cast features Pyotr Velyaminov as the investigator Mitin, Galina Polskikh as Galina Ukladova, and Aleksei Zharkov as the taxi driver Stepan Voronov. Other roles are played by Tatyana Pelttser, Lyubov Sokolova, and Yuriy Kayurov. The movie has a runtime of 91 minutes.
