What's left behind the scenes
- Director William H. Macy did not want to act in the film himself; however, since no one else could be found for the lead role, Macy had to play it. For the role of the wife, Macy cast Felicity Huffman, whom he has been married to since 1997.
- Director William H. Macy was so impressed by Nick Robinson's performance in the series 'Boardwalk Empire' (2010-2014) and his general acting abilities in blockbusters, which he demonstrated in Colin Trevorrow's 'Jurassic World' (2015), that Macy cast the actor in his film immediately after meeting him.
- According to William H. Macy, it took about 14 years to bring this story to the screen.
