This historical drama focuses on Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński, the Primate of Poland, during the Cold War. Following three years of imprisonment by the communist regime, he returns to lead the Catholic Church in Warsaw. The film depicts his efforts to negotiate rights for the church and the Polish people while facing a government campaign intended to erase religion from the country. Through a secret operation involving numerous agents, the state attempts to destroy the clergyman, but his commitment to individual dignity and freedom helps set the stage for the eventual collapse of communism in Europe and the rise of Pope John Paul II.
The film was directed by Michał Kondrat, marking the first of two listed works in his career, followed by I Am The Immaculate Conception in 2024. Sławomir Grzymkowski stars as Stefan Wyszyński, appearing alongside Adam Ferency, Marcin Troński, Katarzyna Zawadzka, Michał Meyer, and Tomasz Sapryk. The production involved a credited cast of 37 people and a crew of 103, with support from companies including PISF and TVP. Audiences have given the movie a mixed reception, reflected in a 5.4/10 rating on IMDb based on 271 votes.
