Kinds of Kindness

Kinds of Kindness is an anthology film made up of three connected stories, with the same performers appearing in different roles across each segment. In the first, a man whose life is tightly controlled by his boss attempts to break free and take charge of his own decisions. The second follows a police officer whose wife went missing at sea and has now come back, though he becomes convinced she is not the same person. The third centers on a woman searching for someone with an unusual ability, believed to be destined for a role as a spiritual leader.

Yorgos Lanthimos directed and co-wrote the screenplay with Efthymis Filippou, a collaborator on several of his earlier features. The film sits between Poor Things, released the previous year, and Bugonia. Emma Stone, Jesse Plemons, Willem Dafoe, Margaret Qualley, Hong Chau and Mamoudou Athie appear across the three parts. It was produced by Andrew Lowe, Ed Guiney and Lanthimos himself, with Searchlight Pictures, Film4 and Element Pictures among the companies behind it.

Made for a modest budget, it earned a little more than that back at the worldwide box office. Reception was mixed: on IMDb it holds 6.4 from around 71,000 votes, and on TMDB 6.5 from roughly 1,300 votes, while the film critics' rating stands at 6.5 from 288 reviews. The film runs 164 minutes.
