Passenger 57

Passenger 57 follows John Cutter, an airline security specialist still grieving his wife's death, who is travelling on a flight to Los Angeles when the convicted terrorist Charles Rane is freed by accomplices and seizes control of the aircraft, holding the passengers hostage. Cutter, seated in seat 57, avoids detection and begins working against the hijackers, aided by flight attendant Marti Slayton. The struggle between the two men starts on board and continues on the ground.

Kevin Hooks directed the film, his second feature after Strictly Business (1991) and the first of several action-oriented projects in his filmography that also includes Irresistible Force and Fled. The screenplay was written by David Loughery and Dan Gordon, and the cast is led by Wesley Snipes as Cutter and Bruce Payne as Rane, with Tom Sizemore, Alex Datcher, Bruce Greenwood and Robert Hooks in supporting roles. The production involved a large credited cast and crew.

Produced by Warner Bros. Pictures on a budget of about 15 million dollars, the film took roughly 44 million dollars worldwide, a return of nearly three times its cost. On IMDb it holds 5.9 out of 10 from around 53,000 votes, and on TMDB 6 out of 10 from a much smaller number of votes. A critics' rating of 4.6 out of 10 from 27 reviews places it below the audience scores.
