Short description
The story of the first major battle of the American phase of the Vietnam War and the soldiers on both sides that fought it.

What's left behind the scenes

  • The project was initially titled 'Lost Patrol'; its literary basis was the book by former American Army Lieutenant Colonel Harold G. Moore and reporter Joseph L. Galloway, 'We Were Soldiers Once…and Young'.
  • Over 260 kilometers of film footage were shot for the film. The editing team needed 6 days to review the material.
  • The film was banned from screening in Vietnam.
  • Vietnamese actor Don Duong was accused of "treason" in his home country for his portrayal of a North Vietnamese lieutenant colonel in the film and was forced to emigrate to the United States.
