Daddy Day Care

Charlie Hinton and his colleague Phil both lose their jobs after their advertising campaign doesn't deliver the results the company expected. With the job market weak and no offers coming in, the two men end up at home, handling the household and looking after their young sons while their wives go out to earn the money. Neither of them takes to the role easily, but Charlie sees an opportunity: if they can manage their own children, they could take in other people's as well. They set up a day-care center in Charlie's house, run with methods that are far from conventional, and it quickly draws families away from the strict, expensive academy run by Miss Harridan, who does not welcome the competition.

Steve Carr directed the film, which followed Dr. Dolittle 2 in his filmography. Geoff Rodkey wrote the screenplay, and John Davis, Wyck Godfrey and Matt Berenson produced it for Davis Entertainment and Revolution Studios. Eddie Murphy plays Charlie, with Jeff Garlin as Phil, Regina King as Charlie's wife Kim, Steve Zahn as Marvin, Kevin Nealon as Bruce and Jonathan Katz as Dan Kubitz.

Made for about 60 million dollars, the film took in roughly 164 million worldwide, a strong return. Audience reception was mixed: it holds 5.7/10 on IMDb from around 79,000 votes and 5.9/10 on TMDB from over 2,000 votes, while the critics' rating stands at 4.5/10 from 129 reviews, noticeably lower than the audience scores.
