Short description
A French teacher named Clémentine and her partner Lucas, a novelist, live in a secluded house on the outskirts of Bucharest, Romania. Their quiet life is disrupted one rainy night when strange noises and mysterious phone calls signal that they are not alone. The couple soon finds themselves hunted inside their own home by unknown assailants in a struggle for survival.
The film was co-directed by David Moreau and Xavier Palud, who also wrote the screenplay. It marks the first directorial effort for both men. The cast features Olivia Bonamy and Michaël Cohen in the lead roles, alongside Adriana Mocca, Maria Roman, Camelia Maxim, and Alexandru Boghiu.
Released in 2006, the horror thriller earned 3 million USD at the worldwide box office. It holds a rating of 6.3/10 on IMDb from 34,000 votes and 6.1/10 on TMDB from 624 votes. These audience scores are similar to the rating of 6.2/10 provided by film critics.
What's left behind the scenes
- According to the director and screenwriter, David Moreau, Olivia Bonamy, who played the main character in the film, suffered from claustrophobia, and during the filming of some scenes (for example, in the narrow tunnels), genuine horror was reflected on her face.
- For filming, they found a huge, old estate in Bucharest, the capital of Romania. The house was so spacious that the filmmakers were unable to fully furnish all the rooms for filming, and it had enough space for the entire film crew to live in.
