A Genius, Two Friends, and an Idiot

Joe Thanks is a con man who teams up with the half-Indian Bill and the young Lucy to take $300,000 from Major Cabot. Cabot has been persecuting the local Indians, and the money is meant for them. The plan the three put together involves disguises, double-crosses and chases, and Joe appears to be in control of events throughout.

The film is a German-Italian-French western comedy directed by Damiano Damiani, whose earlier A Bullet for the General appeared in 1967. It was written by Fulvio Morsella, Damiani and Ernesto Gastaldi, and produced by Claudio Mancini, Morsella and Sergio Leone. Terence Hill plays Joe Thanks, with Miou-Miou as Lucy, Robert Charlebois as Bill Locomotiva and Patrick McGoohan as Major Cabot. Raimund Harmstorf and Piero Vida also appear among a credited cast of thirty-one. The film runs 117 minutes.

Released in December 1975, it sits between Damiani's A Bullet for the General and How to Kill a Judge, both of 1975, and precedes Amityville II: The Possession, from 1982.
