Man of the East

A refined young Englishman named Sir Thomas Moore travels to the American West after his father dies, honoring the old man's wish that his son become a real cowboy like he once was. Thomas is out of place from the start: he dislikes guns and brawls, cares more for poetry than pistols, and would rather ride a bicycle than a horse. Three likable outlaws who knew his father take on the job of toughening him up, teaching him to shoot and fight, though their lessons do not take. The situation changes when he falls for Candida, the daughter of a wealthy rancher, and draws the resentment of Morton, a gunman who also wants her. Thomas is finally forced to stand up for himself.

Enzo Barboni wrote and directed this Italian-French-Yugoslav western comedy, which followed his two Trinity films with Terence Hill, released in 1970 and 1971, and preceded five further features he directed. Alberto Grimaldi produced, with PEA among the production companies. Terence Hill stars as Sir Thomas, alongside Gregory Walcott, Yanti Somer, Dominic Barto, Harry Carey Jr. and Enzo Fiermonte in a credited cast of 24. On IMDb the film holds 6.5 out of 10 from roughly 3,600 votes, and on TMDB 6.6 out of 10 from about 143 votes.
