Club Dread

Club Dread is a 2004 comedy horror mystery set at Coconut Pete's, a hedonistic island resort owned by a former rock star. The staff cater to guests looking for drink, sun and casual romance, until a masked killer begins attacking people at the resort. The employees try to stop the violence while also trying to keep the deaths quiet so the party can continue. Suspicion spreads among the guests and the small group of staff, and the mystery of the killer's identity runs through the film.

Jay Chandrasekhar directed; he wrote the screenplay with Steve Lemme and Kevin Heffernan, and Richard Perello produced. It was Chandrasekhar's second feature as director, following Super Troopers in 2001 and preceding The Dukes of Hazzard in 2005. He also appears as Putman, with Heffernan as Lars, Brittany Daniel as Jenny, Lemme as Juan, Jordan Ladd as Penelope and Bill Paxton as Coconut Pete. The film runs 104 minutes.

The film had a budget of about 9 million USD and took roughly 5 million USD worldwide, so it did not recover its cost. On IMDb it holds 5.7/10 from around 33,000 votes, and on TMDB 5.2/10 from 411 votes. A critics' rating of 4.5/10 from 100 reviews places it below the IMDb audience figure and slightly below the TMDB score.
